Question: Councillor M. Baker:
"To ask the Manager what plans are there to improve safety at the Avoca Avenue/Convent Road/Avoca Place/Sydney Terrace junction?"
Reply:
Funding for the Grove Avenue / Avoca Avenue traffic calming scheme was sought from the Dublin Transportation Office (DTO) in 2004 but was not forthcoming as they no longer fund traffic calming schemes. The proposal, in this regard, included land acquisition for the provision of a footpath at Grove Avenue. An improvement of this junction cannot be safely made without traffic calming measures being incorporated in adjoining streets. If funds are available in 2005 this work will be undertaken at this locality if there are not competing priorities elsewhere.
