Marie is currently serving her fourth term on Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. She has been honoured to serve as Cathaoirleach or Mayor of the County from 2004-2005 and also from 2014-2015.

On the Council she is a member of the Strategic Policy Committees for Community, Culture and Wellbeing and Transport and Marine.  Marie was the former chairperson of the Community, Culture and Wellbeing Strategic Policy Committee and a member of the Corporate Policy Group. She also serves on the LCDC, the Organisation, Procedure & Protocol Committee, the Cycling Forum and the Memorials Committee. Marie is the whip/secretary of the Fine Gael Group of thirteen councillors on Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.

Marie is also the chairperson of the Blackrock Tidy Towns Committee and Trustee and chairperson of the 29th Dublin Blackrock Scout Group. She is a member of the Irish Guide Dogs Association, the Foxrock & District Garden Club, a shoreline member of the RNLI and a member of Blackrock Society.

Besides her community involvement, Marie is a full-time councillor dedicated to dealing with local issues. Marie is married with four children and she lives with her family in Blackrock. Her personal interests include local history, family history, quizzes, golf, and aquafit.
