MARETIMO STREAM PROJECT
Question: Councillor M. Baker:
"To ask the Manager now that Government funding is in place for the Carysfort Maretimo Stream Project to advise what are the next steps to be taken so as to advance the project and reach its conclusion?"
Reply:
The Carysfort Maretimo Stream Improvement Scheme is included in the latest Water Services Investment Programme 2007 – 2009, based on a budget cost. The Preliminary Report was submitted to the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government in July of this year and approved in November. The approval includes Procurement/Construction Stage Budget approval, with an overall approved budget of Euro5.94m.
The project is being expediated as rapidly as possible. The Consultants for the scheme are at present undertaking the detailed design. The Part 8 is in the process of preparation and following public display the Part 8 report is due to be presented to Councillors in Spring 2008.
Subject to all necessary approvals, the programme at present is to seek tenders in Summer 2008 and commence construction by the end of 2008. Construction will then be due for completion by the end of 2009.
