Avondale Lawn and Court Parking

Meeting of DĂșn Laoghaire Area Committee

Written:

Motion: Councillor M. Baker:

That the Manager brings a report on the parking situation in Avondale Lawn and Avondale Court with a view to suggesting lining and signage that might help improveaccess in particular for emergency vehicles and bin lorries.

Report:

A number of inspections have recently been carried out in Avondale Lawn and Avondale Court to assess the parking issues here. These inspections were done at various times throughout the day and it is evident that parking along here is causing a traffic hazard and is interfering with traffic flows particularly in relation to access for trucks or emergency vehicles mainly on the section of road leading into the estate from Carysfort Avenue. Vehicles are parked here on both sides of the road, partly on the road and partly on the footpaths. There is also evidence of parking fully up on the footpath. This parking would give rise to vehicular access problems and also problems for pedestrians using the footpaths. There are some existing DYL’s on the road entering off Carysfort Avenue and also around the green open space area. To overcome the access issue, a continuation of these existing DYL’s from the open space to join up with the DYL’s coming in from Carysfort Avenue would be recommended on the right hand side as you enter the road. It would also be recommended to extend the existing DYL’s at the bend at Avondale Lawn/Avondale Court junction further into Avondale Court as far as the ‘lay by’. It would be proposed to bring these measures to the next TAG meeting with the Gardai.
