MEETING OF DÚN LAOGHAIRE AREA COMMITTEE
Question: Councillor M. Baker
“To ask the Manager to explain why there is only one stopcock for six houses in
Pembroke Cottage, Booterstown? How will the installation of water meters take place
for these houses?”
Reply:
It was common practice up to the 1970s to supply small groups of houses through
one stopcock and a long service pipe laid in the back gardens. These houses were
built prior to the 1970s.
Irish Water has stated that only premises with individual connections will be metered
in the first tranche of metering contracts. A policy statement on how other premises
will be metered or otherwise charged is awaited from Irish Water.
