Rockfield Park Trees

Meeting of the Dun Laoghaire Area Committee

Written:

Question: Councillor M. Baker
“To ask the Chief Executive if a report has been carried out on the trees in
Rockfield Park adjacent to Brookfield Court given that in recent years a number of
these large trees have fallen during storms?”
Reply:
A number of Montery Cypress trees (Cupressus macrocarpa), growing along the
river bank have blown down during the recent storm events. The large roots of
these trees will require the use of heavy plant machinery for removal and has
been scheduled to take place during the Summer months when ground conditions
allow.
In view of the recent storms, arrangements will be made to have the trees
surveyed and any remedial action will be taken. It is further hoped that
replacement tree planting will take place during the current Tree Care
Programme.
