To ask the Chief Executive in connection with the Blackrock Local Area Plan that is due to
expire in March 2025, what process will be put in place to review the plan?
Reply:
The current forward planning and active land management Plan local area plan work
programme for 2025 is focused on progressing Kiltiernan – Glenamuck, Old Connaught and
Rathmichael Local Area Plans. It does not include for work on the review of the Blackrock
Local Area Plan.
The Planning Authority are expecting the forward planning provisions of the new Planning and
Development Act 2024 to be commenced sometime in 2025. The commencement of this part
of the Act will have implications for all type of spatial plans with Local Area Plans being
replaced with 3 different types of plan at a local level – urban area plans, priority area plans
and coordinated area plans
