“To ask the Manager if a work plan is in place to deal with the cleaning up of fallenleaves on footpaths and roadways on main routes given how dangerous these surfacesbecome when the leaves are wet?”

A Work Plan to deal with fallen leaves is put in place when the first fall of leaves isobserved in early autumn. The plan consists of targeting areas with higher densities oftrees and vegetation for more frequent sweeping. In particular, areas sensitive toflooding, highly pedestrianised areas and busy roads are prioritised. Additional overtimeis made available to respond to heavy and sudden leaf falls, which often follows heavyrain and storms. Usually the overtime is worked during daylight hours on Saturdays andSundays during the months of November and December but the Work Plan can respondto weather conditions, the severity of the leaf falls and other information which isbrought to our attention.
