Idrone Terrace Parking

Meeting of the Dun Laoghaire Area Committee

Written:

MEETING OF DÚN LAOGHAIRE AREA COMMITTEE
24TH OCTOBER 2016
PARKING IDRONE TERRACE
Motion: Councillor M. Baker, Cllr. A. Colgan, Cllr. K. Feeney, Cllr. M.
Hanafin, Cllr. D. Kingston & Cllr. B. Ward
“That this Committee agrees to change the maximum parking time restriction from
three hours to one hour on the landward side of Idrone Terrace, Blackrock, due to
escalating parking problems in the area.”
Report:
The current parking designation on Idrone Terrace is for a 3 hour maximum stay
parking period on the residential side of the road, with all-day parking provided for
on the seaward side of the road.
The Council are aware that the resident’s concerns relate to the frequency of the
turnover of spaces on the residential side of Idrone Terrace, which they say, is
impacting on the ability of residents to access parking near their homes. They have
also expressed concerns about the possibility of splitting the Blackrock Permit Area
into ‘North and South’ to prohibit those permit holders who do not live locally, from
parking on the Terrace.
A one hour maximum parking designation is generally used in primarily commercial
parking areas to encourage greater turnover of access to parking bays. Given the
proximity of Idrone Terrace to the Main Street in Blackrock, if the motion is agreed,
an amendment to the parking Scheme on Idrone Terrace in the terms of the motion
will be introduced on a trial basis subject to review.

This motion was agreed
