Motion: Councillor M. Baker
“That this Council amends the wording in the DLR Grant Scheme Guidelines so that
events where the Council have made a grant in excess of €4,000, an invitation would
automatically issue to the Cathaoirleach to attend the event rather that the current
situation where the Council have to request such an invitation. See link DLR Grant
Scheme.”
Report:
Within the current DLR Grant Scheme Guidelines
http://www.dlrcoco.ie/about/councildepartments/environment/findit/grantschemes/
An Cathaoirleach can request an invitation to any grant aided event irrespective of
the amount awarded. Under the 2015 Grant Scheme, 30 grants were awarded more
than €4,000, of which only 15 were for events or conferences, and of these only 4/5
have an official launch.
Should the motion be agreed it is recommended that the Member’s agree to the
insertion of the following wording into future Grant Scheme Guidelines
“An invitation must be issued to An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown
County Council for all grant aided events, conferences, festivals or launches that are
awarded €4,000 or more.”
