To ask the Chief Executive if timeframes to complete the task have been included in contracts
for items agreed at the TAG meetings and to confirm what those timeframes are?
Reply:
Timeframes relating to completion of tasks are not generally included in Contracts for the
Council’s Contractors (ie Lining Contractor).
The nature of Traffic related enhancement works is that they are vulnerable to a host of
outside factors e.g. weather, parked cars, objections to the proposed lining.
Considering the above it is deemed to be not reasonable to impose a penalty for factors
outside of the Contractor’s Control, but our engineers are in constant contact with the
contractors, to ensure the works are completed in an efficient timescale as is possible.
