To ask the Chief Executive to provide an update on the works taking place at Seapoint Bathing
area, stating when they will be completed and the nature of the works taking place?
Reply:
DLR Beaches team are currently carrying out maintenance improvement works at Seapoint
beach. These works include repair works on access steps 2 and access steps 3, and the front
facing of the concrete swim platform in-between these access points. The handrails on both
of these access steps will be replaced as part of the works. Repointing works will be completed
along the platform between the stepped access points to address trip hazards.
The timeline of this project has been heavily reliant on weather conditions and tides. A definite
completion date is difficult to provide as a result, however the main body of work will be
complete in March 2025 with last items to be completed before the bathing season
commences in June.
Due to the lead time for the new handrails the existing handrails will be temporarily reinstated
to provide safe access before being replaced. To ensure public safety during these works
access to a small section of the bathing area has been restricted as per the maps provided
below. Access will remain restricted to the demarcated area for the duration of the works
including evenings and weekends.
Access remains open to the water for swimming via three alternative points. Swimmers are
advised to enter the water using one of these three available access points and to complete
their swim in the bathing waters outside of the demarcated zone.
