Commercial bin waste Blackrock

Written:

That this Committee request that the Council writes to owners of all commercial waste bins
in the town of Blackrock asking that the bins only be put in a public location for collection
and not be stored in the public realm as is happening at the moment.
Report:
The Environmental Enforcement Warden from DLR met with residents/businesses on 7th March
regarding bins that are left out on non-collection days. Letters will be sent to a small number
of businesses who currently contravene the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Bye-
Laws for the Segregation, Storage and Presentation of Household and Commercial Waste,
2019, reminding them of their obligations under the Bye-Laws and advising that penalties
may be issued.
The Environmental Enforcement Warden works with businesses in the area to ensure
compliance with the requirements to ensure bins are only left out on collection days and are
stored in an appropriate manner and location outside of collection days. Any specific areas
where there is an issue with compliance can be reported to the Warden for the area via the
‘Report an Issue’ function on our website – www.dlrcoco.ie – by email to info@dlrcoco.ie or
by freephone to 1800 403 503.
