Request for installation of mini-roundabout at junction of Convent Road
Question: Councillor M. Baker:
"To ask the Manager to consider the installation of a mini roundabout at the junction of Convent Road / Avoca Avenue / Avoca Place / Sydney Terrace, to include ‘D' islands and improved measures for pedestrians as this is a very difficult junction for drivers / pedestrians to navigate?"
Reply:
The junction of Convent Road / Avoca Avenue / Avoca Place / Sydney Terrace has been examined with a view to installing a ‘mini-roundabout' at this location to have a ‘traffic calming' effect and to improve the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
However, due to the restricted area of this junction, the final design of the mini-roundabout has not yet been decided. It is possible that only a small fully mountable roundabout (eg ‘bright red imprint asphalt') with appropriate white lining would be appropriate.
If a funding source is identified in 2007, a final design will be prepared and the work will be included in the Construction Programme.
