"To ask the Manager in relation to the purchase of Clontibret House, Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock, when will these units be available for occupancy? Do the Council intend to build the additional 2 bedroomed houses for which planning permission exists?"
Reply:
The immediate priority in relation to Clontibret House is to carry out some necessary refurbishment works to the existing units to render them suitable for allocation. The creation of a shortlist of contractors to tender for these works is currently in progress and it is estimated that the premises will be available for occupation within six months.The planning permission for the two additional units was granted on 9th September 2004. The question of whether the Council should act on foot of this permission orconsider a more comprehensive development of the entire site in the longer term will be considered once the works currently proposed are in train. Whatever is decided the site will continue to be used for social housing purposes.
