MEETING OF DUN LAOGHAIRE AREA COMMITTEE
4TH SEPTEMBER 2006
Works in relation to Newtownpark Avenue
Question: Councillor M. Baker:
"o ask the Manager in relation to Newtownpark Avenue at its junction with Temple Road to have the following works carried out: –
(i) to have the audible signal on the pedestrian lights at this junction lowered as it is causing a disturbance to local residents;
(ii) to widen the left hand turning lane by decreasing the path width so that the traffic can have easier passage as the current lane is very narrow?"
Reply:
(i) The audible signals at the signalised pedestrian crossings on Newtownpark Avenue at its junction with Temple Road have been lowered.
(ii) The left hand turning lane from Newtownpark Avenue into Temple Road, has been examined recently.
At 'off peak' times of the day there is no 'tail back' of traffic. The Traffic Section will contact our 'Signals Maintenance Contractor' with a view to making adjustments in signal timings at the morning peak hour. The junction is scheduled for examination as part of the Regional Strategic Route Project by Dublin City Council with an implementation date in 2007."
