The purpose of the proposed Monkstown Ring Road is to provide a direct traffic route from the vicinity of Dun Laoghaire/Stradbrook area to the N11. The road will reduce traffic flow on some existing roads, notably Deansgrange Road, Newtownpark Avenue and Newtownpark. At the County Council meeting of the 13th October, the Manager agreed to offer measures to ameliorate against the effects of the road on surrounding houses provided they did not conflict legally with An Bord Pleanala's ruling. One of the measures to be considered was a ban on HGVs.

Transportation Department will now consider the introduction of a 3 tonne limit together with all other mitigating measures during detailed design.
