Question: Councillor M. Baker:
"To ask the Manager what is contained in the Sports Development Programme for the summer for the Blackrock ward? Can dates and venues be supplied with this answer? "
Reply:
"The Sports Development Programme that is in place for the summer period 2005, includes the following activities and programmes:
- Dublin Parks Tennis League
- Snorkelling Taster Days
- Multi Sports & Activity Camps
- Rowing Camps
- Futsal Programmes
- Rugby Development Programmes
- Soccer Blitz in the Community
- Angling, and
- Power Boating
The activities will be hosted in a number of venues both within and outside of the County boundaries. Through co-ordination of the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council’s Sports Development Office, and Community Development Staff Team, as well as links with Youth Service Youth Development Officers, these programme will be delivered to groups of young people from the Blackrock Ward, and all other wards within the County.
The Sports Development Office will also be working closely with an Garda Síochána Community Officers from throughout the County to specifically target “At Risk” young people, and engage them in sporting activities during the Summer months, and throughout the year. "
