Coastal Asset Survey Database

Written:

February 2006 Council meeting Question: Councillor M. Baker:

"To ask the Manager, given that the Coastal Asset Survey Database was installed in summer 2005, what areas of publicly owned lands have been identified with coastal erosion problems? Can he further advise when the Action Plan and costings will be available?"

Reply:

"The immediate areas of concern identified are Killiney Beach Gabions and Corbawn Lane. The Council is providing measures to protect these areas in co-operation with the Department of Communications, Marine & Natural Resources. The appointment of a Senior Executive Engineer with responsibility for management of Coastal Erosion is anticipated shortly and a priority, following that appointment, will be the preparation of a Coastal Strategy/Costed Action Plan in respect of publicly owned lands."
