"To ask the Manager in relation to the Dún Laoghaire Committee Area if it is intended to expand the range of plastics from those that are currently accepted at bring centres? If there are plans to do so, what other types of plastic will be accepted?"
Reply:
There are currently 6 places to recycle plastics in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. Recyclenet is contracted to provide plastic recycling facilities in 4 bring centres, each accepting plastics types 1 & 2 plastic bottles. Ballyogan Recycling Park accepts types 1, 2 & 4 bottles & flexible, stretchy plastic. Eden Park Recycling Centre accepts types 1, 2, 4 & 5 bottles, flexible plastic & most plastic packaging. Types 3 – Polyvinyl chloride, used for window frames & cable insulation, type 6 – polystyrene foam plastic, and type 7 mixed type plastics, are currently not accepted for recycling in the county.
