‘No Parking Zone’ on Cross Avenue, Blackrock

May 2006 Area committee meeting Question: Councillor M. Baker:

"To ask the Manager to put in place a ‘no parking zone' on Cross Avenue, Blackrock on both sides of the avenue from the Barrett Cheshire Home to the Rectory gate of St. Philip and St. James' Church, from 9.30am to 10.30am Monday to Friday?"

Cross Avenue, Off Mount Merrion Avenue, Blackrock has been examined recently. The road is approximately 12 metres wide at the location of the Barrett Cheshire Home. Cars are parked on both sides of the road and two-way traffic flow is maintained throughout this section of road from the Barrett Cheshire Home to the Rectory Gate of St. Philip and St. James' Church, a distance of approximately 70 metres. There is an existing Pay and Display parking area from the shop at the corner of the road with Mount Merrion Avenue, which terminates just before the Barrett Cheshire Home. Since two-way traffic flow is maintained at all times in the day, then the provision of a ‘no parking zone' is not warranted
