MEETING OF DUN LAOGHAIRE AREA COMMITTEE

6th November 2006

Request for issues at Carysfort Ave to be investigated

Question: Councillor M. Baker

"o ask the Manager:

(i) to implement measures at the hammer head end of (Old) Stillorgan Park, Blackrock to prevent the bin truck from mounting the pavement to exit or enter this roadway thus avoiding the need to reverse the length of the roadway;

(ii) can the pavement at the end of the hammerhead on Carysfort Avenue be investigated as repairs may be necessary;

(iii) can confirmation be given as to the reasons why double yellow lines were placed around the end of the hammerhead;

(iv) what provision has been made for access for emergency vehicles trying to enter this narrow, long road?"

Reply:

(i) The hammer head at the northern end of the Old Stillorgan Road will be examined to see what further measures are required to prevent the bin truck from mounting the footway.

(ii) This pavement will be examined and repairs will be carried out, if required.

(iii) The hammer head towards the northern end of the Old Stillorgan Road was previously installed to facilitate the turning movements of emergency and service vehicles. Double yellow lines were installed in July this year around the hammer head to prevent vehicles parking at this location and thus to facilitate the turning movements of emergency and service vehicles.

(iv) Double yellow lines currently exist on the east side of the Old Stillorgan Road from the junction of Cranford Court to beyond the hammer head and terminating at the cul-de-sac.

30 metres of double yellow lines have recently been installed on both sides of the junction at the slip road from the N11.
