Yellow box on Rock Road

MEETING OF DUN LAOGHAIRE AREA COMMITTEE

2ND OCTOBER 2006

Provision of yellow boxes on Rock Road

Question: Councillor M. Baker:

"To ask the Manager in relation to the Rock Road, if yellow boxes can be provided at both exits from Seafort Parade onto the Rock Road during the course of the current road improvement scheme; Yellow boxes have been indicated on the plans for nearby roads such as Emmet Square and Phoenix Terrace that are also on this narrow section of the road?"

Reply:

The request for yellow boxes at the exit from Seafort Parade will be assessed once the Quality Bus Corridor and cycle scheme are fully operational as the level of congestion and blocking of this junction can be adequately assessed at that time.

The request will be examined by both the Garda Traffic Section and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Traffic Section and a decision made, based on the guidelines for the provision of yellow boxes, i.e. evidence of all day blocking and side road traffic is significant.
