MEETING OF DÚN LAOGHAIRE-RATHDOWN COUNTY COUNCIL

12 NOVEMBER 2007

SKATE BOARDPARK

Question: Councillor M. Baker:

"To ask the Manager to explain why a charge is being made for entry into the skate board park in the Monkstown Fitness Centre given that this is a community facility and no other similar skate boarding facility in the country charges? Also why is a time limit of two hours being imposed for each entry made?"

Reply:

The skate park at Monkstown is a managed facility, is staffed when open and also covered by CCTV and is floodlit, all which incurs costs. The users are also provided with a helmet as part of the entry fee. The time limit was set in order to cater for the expected usage and will be constantly monitored as the usage pattern develops.
