Bags for grass cutting

Meeting of Dun Laoghaire Area Committee22nd September 2008Provision of bags for grass cuttingQuestion: Councillor M. Baker:

"To ask the Manager to provide the officers of Oakley Park residents association with appropriate bags for grass cuttings as they maintain a piece of public open space and currently get charged for bringing the bags to the dump?"

Reply:

"The Council regularly assists local community groups / residents associations with litter clean ups. We provide biodegradable bags, litter pickers, latex gloves and heavy duty gloves to interested groups and arrangements are made to remove the litter collected. However, it is not the policy of the Council to remove grass cuttings. Cuttings are generally left on open spaces after mowing."
