"To ask the Manager to have one of the litterbins that will be replaced shortly in Blackrock Main Street, placed on Temple Crescent so as to aid road users in disposing of their litter in a proper manner?"
Reply:
Litter bins are not usually located in residential areas like Temple Crescent because the criteria which normally justify the location of a litter bin are not present. These criteria include the presence of specific litter generators such as certain shops, schools, busy bus stops or places where groups of people congregate. Where bins are provided then a regular schedule to service the litter bin needs to be put in place which also impacts on resources in the longer term. The Foreman is being asked to monitor littering at Temple Crescent and to consider if practical measures can be taken which will reduce the amount of litter.
