MEETING OF DÚN LAOGHAIRE AREA COMMITTEE1ST DECEMBER 2008SAFETY BARRIER OUTSIDE CLARKE'S SHOP ON BOOTERSTOWN AVENUEQuestion: Councillor M. Baker:

"To ask the Manager to install a safety barrier outside Clarke's shop on Booterstown Avenue to protect pedestrians especially schoolchildren as the pathway is very narrow at this point?"

Reply:

Further to an on site inspection at this location, it was considered that the provision of a pedestrian guard-rail was not feasible here as it would have to be located at least 200mm from the edge of the footpath which would lead to a further narrowing of the existing footpath and would not necessarily ensure that all pedestrians would remain on the footpath side of the barrier.
