Question: Councillor M. Baker:

“To ask the Manager for an update on the proposed playground for Carysfort Park, including information on the location, description of the play pieces and timeframefor its construction? Can confirmation also be given that representatives ofBlackrock Athletics Club were contacted about the location so as to ascertain their viewpoint? What was the outcome of this discussion?”

Reply:

It is proposed to locate the playground on a linear section of the park, immediatelyto the left of the pedestrian entrance, when entering the park from CarysfortAvenue. The playground consists of seven set play pieces integrated into a contouredlandscape, catering for age groups 2 to 6 and 6 to 12 yrs with formal and informalplay activities. The play pieces include 2 swings (junior/senior) junior combinationunit, spring seesaw, multi-climb unit, embankment slide and stepping posts. It is envisaged that works will commence on site in March/April. However the playcompany will have to augment the design slightly to suit the new proposed location.Blackrock Athletics Club was contacted and the proposals discussedat a site meeting. It is understood that the Club are satisfied with the revisedplayground location.
