Question: Councillor M. Baker:

To ask the Manager to remove the unused junction box that is on the grass verge outside (details supplied) given that it has been replaced by another junction box on the same verge? This location is on the junction of Newtownpark Avenue and Newtown Park.

Reply:

A new ‘Traffic Light Controller’ (junction box) was installed about a year and a half ago as part of upgrading works carried out at Newtownpark Avenue/Newtownpark Junction. The upgrading works were completed in February 2009 with the installation of new vehicle detector loops. In order to remove the old junction box (old Traffic Light Controller) an electrical minipillar and electrical ducting needs to be installed. It is expected that this site work will be completed by the end of February 2010. An application for a new electrical connection will then be made to the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) Once this new electrical connection is completed on site, the old traffic light controller (junction box) will then be removed.
