Question: Councillor M. Baker:
To ask the Manager as a matter of urgency to reinstate the broken pathway outside
[address withheld #1]as it is a trip hazard? The pathway across the road outside
[address withheld #2]also merits repair. When will this work take place?
- The first location described above has been inspected and it has been confirmed that there was an excavation carried out here to facilitate repairs to the water supply network. A temporary reinstatement that was carried out had failed and the stopcock and cover were no longer secure in the ground. This represented a potentially serious hazard for pedestrians and therefore the Water Maintenance Section was requested to re-visit the location to re-set the stopcock and top up the temporary reinstatement in the interests of safety, and this work has been carried out. A Contractor is engaged to carry out the permanent reinstatement of such openings and this one will be added to the list of locations which require attention in this regard. The work will be carried out as soon as resources permit.
- The second location has also been inspected and there is a damaged footpath bay that needs to be replaced. This work will be done when the permanent reinstatements are being done on the water opening as described above. There are also a number of temporary reinstatements on excavations for the carrying out of repairs to the water supply network nearby on this footpath. The Contractor engaged to carry out the permanent reinstatement of such openings will be asked to attend to these issues simultaneously and they have been added to the list of locations which require attention in this regard. The work will be carried out as soon as resources permit.
