Flooding on Newtownpark Ave

Meeting of DĂșn Laoghaire Area Committee

Question: Councillor M. Baker:

To ask the Manager to report on what actions are being taken to protect houses on Newtownpark Avenue, section near Stradbrook Road, that were flooded last October?

Reply:

There is no indication that the flooding is a result of any defect in the drainage network in the environs. This matter has been referred to Transportation as the flooding at this location is due to overland flow. Regardless of the outcome of Transportation Department’s investigations, it is likely that this area will remain vulnerable to overland flow.In common with other areas that have similar vulnerability, personal flood protection by means of flood barriers for doors and air vents will be recommended at this location.
