Carysfort Maretimo Stream Update on Issues and Cost

Meeting of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council

Question: Councillor M. Baker

To ask the Manager to give an update on the Carysfort Maretimo Stream Improvement Scheme including if the contractor has completed the scheme, the total cost of the scheme and any outstanding issues that need to be resolved?

Substantial completion of the CMSIS works was obtained in December 2012 with the exception of the following:

  1. Relocation/jointing of a 38kv ESB cable which currently traverses the stream in the sportsground area at Barclay Court/Brookfield Grove. This is dependent on the Council securing an outage (not secured to date) from the ESB to allow this work to be carried out. The Council is currently awaiting confirmation from ESB Networks Programme Manager as to the proposed timing of the outage but indications are presently that it will be mid 2013.
  2. Additional flood relief works to two properties, one in Stillorgan Park Avenue & the other in Newtown Avenue, Blackrock. Works details have yet to be finalised with property owners.
  3. Remediation of certain landscaping works in the Parks & Open space areas. The Council has asked the CMSIS contractor to submit a programme for carrying out & completing rectification works. This will bring the landscaping into specification in the areas identified by landscape consultant CSR in their last inspection report. Completion of this work will be weather dependent. The total cost of the scheme (including non-contract costs) is €7.3m.
