Blackrock Seafront

Meeting of the Dun Laoghaire Area Committee

Written:

MEETING OF DÚN LAOGHAIRE AREA COMMITTEE
1ST FEBRUARY 2016
BLACKROCK LAP
Motion: Councillor M. Baker
“That the Chief Executive bring a report outlining any proposals to connect Blackrock
village to the adjacent seafront, given policy BK08 of the Blackrock LAP?”
Report:
Policy BK08 of the Blackrock LAP sets out that ‘It is Council policy to
facilitate the upgrade and enhancement of the public realm adjacent to the
seafront and to encourage the reconnection of, and relationship between,
Blackrock Village, the Main Street and the seafront’. In this context the
Blackrock LAP provides a suite of ideas that will guide the long term
development of Blackrock and its environs. These ideas are expressed in the
Local Area Plan as policies and objectives and will be delivered as
opportunities arise and as projects are brought forward.
The draft 2016-2018 Capital Programme which is being presented to the
Area Committee at this meeting includes a budget of €1.6M for Blackrock
(Main Street & Frascati Public Realm & Blackrock Baths). It is hoped to
progress this project in stages and these proposals will be brought to the
Area Committee in due course with a view to progressing to the Part 8
Planning Process.
