Public Lighting on Newtownpark

Meeting of DĂșn Laoghaire Area Committee

Written:

7th February 2011

Question: Councillor M. Baker:

To ask the Manager to confirm if the public lighting level on Newtownpark, Blackrock can be improved, in particular on the section outside (details supplied)? Can the bulbs be changed to increase the lighting level? When can this work be done?

Reply:

The lighting system on Newtownpark, which lies between Newtownpark Avenue and Carysfort Avenue, is on an ESB network overhead live electricity wire system. The lanterns were raised from 6m to 9m with the wattage also increased in recent years, with consequential improvement in lighting. The area will be investigated with the public lighting maintenance contractor with a view to establish if further improvement can be made at reasonable cost.
